Basic- and Detail-Engineering

During the Basic- and Detail-Engineering the essential process engineering works are done that are required for the execution of a plant building project.

Piping and Instrumentation Diagram

The piping and instrumentation diagram is usually the leading document of a plant building project and numerous procedures of the execution process are being aligned with its content. Requirements and components that are newly added as well as adjustments on the existing structure of the plant are first represented on the piping and instrumentation diagram.

Sizing of Components

The sizing includes for all plant components the calculation of the required capacity as well as the process conditions under which they will be operated. The results are then used to create the technical specifications. The sizing primarily happens during the basic- and detail-engineering. In case of more complex and expensive components, it might already be done during the planning of the process plant.

Technical Specifications

Technical specifications are created for the plant components during the execution process of a plant building project. They are based on the outcome of the sizing and contain the data required by the suppliers to align the capacity and the design of the components with the requirements of the plant.

Functional Design Specifications

The functional design specifications form the basis for the programming of the process control system. Based on the process concept, they describe the calculation steps required to continuously determine the operating behaviour of the single components of the plant using the process values recorded in the process control system. They furthermore describe the signal exchange between the process control system and the components as required for controlling the latter ones.

Operating Manual

The creation of the operating manual belongs to the last of the procedures occurring during the basic- and detail-engineering and considers all of the requirements defined in the previous steps for the plant operation. Depending on the course of the commissioning, later adjustments on the operating manual might be necessary.

BASIC- AND DETAIL-ENGINEERING

We take over all or, as required, selected parts of the process engineering works necessary for the successful implementation of the basic- and detail-engineering and produce the documents resulting from this project phase featuring a coherent structure and seamlessly interconnecting content.
